On November 7th 2013 the Elblag Chamber Orchestra showed its jazz side. Our musicians performed with Grażyna Auguścik and Andrzej Jagodziński’s Trio. The concert under the title “Polish Music” was filled with Polish folk melodies in jazz arrangements.
Grażyna Auguścik is a great Polish jazz singer living and performing in the USA. Andrzej Jagodziński’s Trio consists of Andrzej Jagodziński (pianist, composer and arranger), Adam Cegielski (double bass) and Czesław “The little” Bartkowski (drums).
The Elblag Chamber Orchestra conducted by Maestro Marek Moś presented its less-known jazz side and delivered this role exceptionally well. The programme of the concert consisted of popular Polish folk themes arranged for a jazz band and a chamber orchestra (“Matulu moja”, “W murowanej piwnicy”, “Krywań”, “W olszynie” ). The audience could also listen to the preludes of Frederic Chopin in Grażyna Auguścik’s and Andrzej Jagodziński’s Trio jazz version. The final composition of the concert was “Svantetic” by Krzysztof Komeda.
